Vans do sound perfect indeed, but is there any way to improve these four-wheelers even further? Well Yes! Why not electrify them. Today we have a list of top 5 electric cargo vans which are latest newcomers equipped with fully electric motors that offer environmentally friendly driving, torquey performance and noiseless comfortable cabins. VW ID Buzz Cargo

Considering that many of our viewers have already seem the passenger version of the ID Buzz. This time we decided to bring to your attention another upcoming electric VW. The cargo delivery model based on the same platform planned for the production in 2022 the VW Cargo gets several specific updates ranging from a solar roof to charge 15 kilometers per day to smart work space and power outlet for using tools.  The van is slightly longer than the passenger ID Buzz offering 1760 kilograms of payload capacity. The drivetrain setup hasn’t changed combining a 204 horsepower electric motor, rear-wheel drive and several battery options offering up to 490 kilometers of driving.

VW E-Crafter

While VW has several electric van models that are still in their concept or prototype stages the EV version of the large Crafter has already been in production for two years since 2018. Before  heading the market the model went through intense testing by the Europe’s top leading delivery and logistics companies. This then makes it a capable everyday driving conditions and short range cargo hauling. The VW E-Crafter received a front mounted electric motor with 136 horsepower and 214 nm of torque. It gets 35.8 kilowatt hour battery which allows 152 kilometers of driving and is compatible with 40 kilowatt fast chargers ensuring that you can replenish 80% of its charge in 45 minutes. The cargo volume comes with 363 cubic feet with 1.75 ton of payload.

Mercedes EQV

Mercedes-Benz Vans is consistently advancing the electrification of its product portfolio. With the Concept EQV, they are now taking the next step. As a family companion, the concept EQV features a compact electric drivetrain (eATS) on the front axle with an output of 150 kW.  Energy is supplied by a lithium-ion battery. Thanks to a capacity of 100 kWh, a maximum range of up to 400 kilometres is realistic. And with a top speed of 160 km/h, it ensures superior driving pleasure even out of town. The concept vehicle can be conveniently charged at home using a Mercedes-Benz wallbox or a regular household plug socket. For even more flexibility in the daily routine, there is also a rapid charging function: within just 15 minutes, the battery can be charged with sufficient energy for a range of around 100 kilometres.

Street Scooter

Despite its name the German company Street Scooter actually specializes in building electric delivery vehicles and cargo vans. Its product range currently includes the work configurations according to your setup of necessity. The modular chassis of the former two variants further expands the offering but the option between the box pickup and pure bed less configuration. Two battery sizes are on sale 20 and 40 kilowatt hour with conservative ranges but these vehicles are already present on the roads and must be sufficient for the required tasks carrying up to 1,200 kilograms. The most capable excel truck is powered by 76 kilowatt hour battery with a maximum range of 241 kilometers but so far it is exclusively manufactured for Deutsche Post DHL Group.

Canoo

This MPV is the most probably the most unorthodox one on this list. not only due to its futuristic design but also the new form of subscription-only ownership. Canoo was founded in 2017 where the former BMW and faraday future executives. Their creation is riding on a skateboard platform that integrates an 80 kilowatt hour pack aiming for up to 403 kilometers of range and 30 minutes fast charging. There is a single 300 horsepower motor propelling the rear wheels but the chassis also supports front and dual motor all-wheel drive configurations. The Canoo seats 7 but still keeps 15.4 cubic feet od cargo space plus the cabin is more of a lounge on wheels with a vast moon-roof. For now the driver seat and steering wheel are still in place but the van is already pre-equipped with the level for autonomy hardware for the days to come.
